Dear colleagues and friends,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 20th European Anthropological Association (EAA) Congress under the title “European Anthropology in a Changing World: From Culture to Global Biology” that will be held in Zagreb, from 24th to 28th August 2016.In early 70’s, European anthropologists started to talk about forming the European Anthropological Association that would connect universities, scientific institutions and scientific and educational work of anthropologists throughout Europe. A few years later, on the 6th of October 1976, that Association was established in Zagreb as an international scientific association.

The very next year, the 1st congress of EAA was held as well in Zagreb and started a tradition of organizing congresses and uniting anthropologists in their research and mission until present time. That year was special in other ways too: our very succesful scientific journal Collegium Antropologicum was issused for the first time on this ocassion and the Croatian Anthropology Society was founded in the same year. In 2002, the 13th congress of EAA was also held in Zagreb to mark a quarter of century of EAA.In 2016 we are going to celebrate the 20th congress of EAA with notion that the first one was held in the same place.
